Product Description

Demi Teakettle / 1 1/4 qt. / Dual locking handles / Heat resistant handles and knobs / Whistle / Meets European Standards / Red
Amazon.com Review

Distinguishing itself from other Le Creuset demi kettles, this 1-1/4-quart vessel offers the added benefit of a whistle that communicates with a high-pitched tone when the water has reached its boiling point. Thanks to a carbon-steel core, heat conducts quickly and evenly. The pot's exterior features Le Creuset's renowned enamel coating providing a surface that not only looks lovely, but also wipes clean with a damp cloth. Additional features include a removable lid that fits tightly to trap in heat and a locking handle that facilitates safe pouring and transport. Although heat-resistant, the handle can get quite warm so oven mitts are recommended. Appropriate for heating sources ranging from gas and electric to radiant and ceramic, the stovetop teakettle will function in any household. Measuring 5-5/8 by 5-5/8 by 4-3/8 inches, the piece benefits from periodic de-scaling and should be hand washed. --Amy Arnold

What a BEAUTIFUL tea kettle from le Creuset. I am a dedicated and loving owner/buyer of Le Creuset products and this tea kettle is PHENOMENAL!!!! It is incredibly sturdy and gets used just about every day. I purchased the Caribbean Blue kettle and it is so beautiful...my kitchen just lights up...it's definitely an eye catcher!! GET ONE!
Unreliable Whistle! Fire Hazard! - Reviewed on 2008-05-01

I owned two of these kettles. Right out of the box the whistle was not reliable. Sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't. That is fine, I thought, as long as you live in a tiny one-bedroom apartment and are always close enough to hear the water boil if the whistle fails. But then I moved to a bigger place and I have burned two of these kettles since.
Why would you bother buying a tea kettle without a reliable whistle? You might as well just save the money and wait in the kitchen while you boil water in a regular pot.
Don't buy this product! This Le Creuset kettle is a fire hazard and should be taken off the market. Even you might forget to remember one day that you had some water boiling for tea, and before you know it your apartment goes up in flames.

it was bought for my son, who likes it and uses it all the time. He boiled some hot water for tea when I went to visit and I couldn't swear to it, but I thought the tea tasted better than ever before.

I've now owned two Creuset tea kettles and both times the whistle has failed and both times I burned up the pot (and ruined the stove top burner). Because I am an absent minded professor, I need to be WARNED or else I'm off in my own world. If you're like me and you absolutely need a reliable whistle on your tea kettle, then DO NOT purchase this brand. Oh, it's fine for a month or so, then the whistle starts to go and finally you'll end up burning down your neighborhood.

this teakettle is great. a lot of people don't like it and say that it rusts after 3 months. well, then they should really stick to a kettle like OXO or something. it isn't as high-maintenance as a le creuset or even a calphalon teapot.

a teapot, after used, should be dried and cleaned just like anything else. you shouldn't leave the water in it. i take special care of all my pots and pans because they are my treasure.

this le creuset teakettle rocks. it's so pretty.
