Product Description

A serrated bread knife with the added bonus of an offset handle for better leverage, this 8-inch Shun Classic will leave behind few crumbs as it thinly slices even the most delicate breads, while being so sharp, hearty loaves will seem to cut like--butter!Made in the ancient city of Seki, Japan, Shun knives rely on extremely sharp blades, made of Japanese VG10 steel clad with 32 layers (16 on each side) of high-carbon stainless, it delivers precision slicing, cutting and chopping unprecedented by its competitors. The wavy, Damascus-look pattern on the blade offers stick resistance, reducing prep--plus it's rust-free. The Alton Angle, a design contribution of cookbook author and celebrity chef Alton Brown, provides more finger and knuckle clearance than a standard, straight knife allows while cutting and slicing. The 10-degree angle at the bolster also provides extra leverage to improve control and efficiency, particularly useful with smaller knives. The ebony Pakkawood handle, made of a durable white birch wood and resin combination, has a

This knife is an excellent tool. It looks stunning, and does exactly what it's supposed to. I've tried bread knives that aren't offset, and dislike them because your hand always hits the board before you've cut all the way through. With an offset knife this isn't a problem plus you can cut faster because you don't have to worry about your hand getting in the way. Shun makes excellent knives and this is no exception.
