Description

With his trademark cries of "Git-er-done!" and "What the hell is this, Russia?," Larry the Cable Guy is one of country's funniest comedians! Now enjoy an entire DVD of this irresistible funnyman at the top of his form and guaranteed to make you laugh again and again! A star of Comedy Central's hit film Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Movie, Larry has cracked up TV viewers of Showtime, MTV, Evening at the Improv and Comic Strip Live. He's also well-known for his wacky, outrageous radio commentaries and for his bestselling CD, Lord, I Apologize.

Redneck comedian Larry the Cable Guy (co-star of Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Movie) kicks off his live performance on Git-R-Done with one of the great questions of the modern age: "Ever have an orgasm so strong you hit your head on the back of the tub?" (He expresses gratitude that the VCR didn't fall into the water.) A string of gay-bashing and other intemperate quips quickly follows, but Larry's gross jokes are a part of an intentionally foolish persona. When he cracks wise about lesbian rocker Melissa Etheridge's genitals, the crowd gasps, and Larry's oversized rube becomes the punch line. Larry's no less hard on his family, commenting on an obese sister who claims to have a thyroid problem: "It's not a thyroid problem, it's a 7-11 problem." On his brief career as an evangelist: "I was $150 short of bringing a stripper to the Lord." This is hick humor that sometimes gets under one's skin. --Tom Keogh

I had purchased a used dvd at a considerable savings however, the disc was damaged and had some skips in it. I guess I got to see about 80% of it, and what I saw was hilarious. I returned the dvd to Amazon for full credit. I plan to purchase another dvd in hopes that I might have more luck this time.

Larry TCG is hilarious, but I just wish his material was a little cleaner at times in this video. Can't watch certain parts of this with small children in the room. To me his funniest stuff is the clean stuff anyway, so why he has to resort to this at times is beyoond me. Don't get me wrong, this is still a good video to get, despite the occasional bad language & ranchy bits.

About as funny as baptists. Definitely for the ignorant hillbilly who
thinks that being funny just means being stupid. The DVD would be a
great gift for anyone to watch on their their sofa on the front porch.
Give it a try...but not if you're narrow minded. - Reviewed on 2007-10-17

Humor is not universal; it is an individual thing. I enjoy most types of stand-up comedy and Larry is no exception. He is unique, very clever, and has spot-on timing.Larry's humor is delivered in the context of a "red-neck" telling jokes. Clearly, Larry is a character played by a much more savvy and intelligent comedian. (Think of Andy Kaufman, Pee-Wee Herman, and Borat - they all never "break character.") I don't get the feeling that he's exploiting anybody. He's just telling jokes.I often listen to National Lampoon's XM radio station and I have to say that his jokes are no more politically incorrect that any other comedian on that channel. It's true that his humor is often crude and sometimes simple, but we're talking about comedy here. If you want to be really intellectual about your stand-up, then maybe this isn't for you. I like to laugh and Larry can do that without a doubt. I realize he's stirred up alot of controversy in these reviews, but at least he's hit a nerve with these people. Again, humor is individual. If they feel strong enough about disliking him to write a review (rather than just not bothering), then there's a good chance that you may feel equally as stongly and like him.
