Amazon.com Review

Lively and sturdy, this Oneida flatware set is a great addition to your patio table, picnic spread, or cabin kitchen. Oneida uses mirror-finish 18/0 stainless steel for the working ends--a classic contrast to the soft color and feel of the riveted handles. This 45-piece set includes eight 5-piece place settings, each with a knife, fork, spoon, salad fork, and teaspoon. The set also features matching cutlery with the same classic style. The chef's, bread, vegetable, utility, and paring knives all fit together with the flatware in the wood storage caddy. --Emily Bedard

Oneida Pilot Slate Blue Set is not worth the money - Reviewed on 2007-01-27

I bought this set about 6 months ago...in fact, I bought two sets. While the price was very attractive, I certainly hoped for better quality. Several of the handles have come off. Sure, I epoxied them back on, but the overall fit and finish are also very SUBSTANDARD. For a few dollars more, you can do much better. The best part about the set is the nicely made wooden drawer tray. Given a choice, I would have much rather had better quality in the flatware!!!

Service for 8 at this price, you can't expect perfection. I purchased this set as temporary flatware while shopping for a better set, and they've served me well. I wouldn't reccommend these if you're looking for something long term. They rust if left wet for awhile, and the handles loosen if abused slightly. Still, for the price, they're good.

I purchased this set back in January 2004, it's now March 2004. Initally, I was disappointed in the wooden tray - due to it's total lack of function. After using the cutlery set for about 1 month, the knifes all started to pull out of the handles. I would not recommend this item.

Don't be fooled by the price. I thought I was getting a great deal. This service hasn't been through the dishwasher 5 times and already blades and tongs are falling out of the handles. I've had to throw 4 pieces away already. The handles are awful. Go with something that's all in one piece. I should have.

We live in bush Alaska so we need things that are sturdy and dependable. Now we know why this product is discounted so heavily. Within two weeks, three of the table knives have "broken"--the blade has pulled out of the handle. The rest is OK and actually pretty good for the price. Unfortunately, the neat wooden tray that comes with it won't fit into any of our kitchen drawers.

All in all--a dud.
