Amazon.com Review

If you're committed to cooking professional-tasting meals, you need professional-quality tools, and Calphalon delivers in spades with its Commercial Bakeware line. This set of five pieces consists of two 8-inch round cake pans, a jellyroll pan, a 6-cup muffin pan, and a medium loaf pan. Each is made of heavy-gauge aluminum and features a two-tone design that promotes even and efficient cooking--now you no longer have to worry about the insides of your cakes tasting goopy while the edges have the texture of week-old biscotti. Because of the bakeware's smooth, nonstick material, all of your baked goods, whether they're cakes, muffins, bread loaves, or jellyrolls, slide effortlessly out of the pan when finished. The nonstick exterior also makes cleanup quick and easy. Calphalon recommends you use nylon, wood, or coated utensils to prevent scratching. In addition, the pans are oven-safe to 450 degrees F and include lifetime warranties. --Rivers Janssen

Great set! - Reviewed on 2007-12-21

It is a great set for a start-up kitchen. We had all of our cook ware in storage and needed a starter set and this is what we got. It has done an excellent job. The cookie sheets don't have that rim that is shown, at least in my set they were flat cookie sheets.

I've had this set for 3 years and it is still in excellent conditions. I put them in the dishwasher and they still look great.
Perfect for "new" bakers (& old) - Reviewed on 2006-02-09

I bought this set for my new sister in law that is self described "non-domestic". She always burned everything and nothing turned out how it was supposed to be so when getting a better set than dollar store versions she's stepped up in her self esteem and doesn't burn as much stuff and with calphalon's even baking it's perfect for her. I will be buying more calphalon for future gifts for my sister in law, and myself!
Top of the line, high-quality stuff - Reviewed on 2005-07-06

I love to cook, but have never been much of a baker. This set was given to me as a gift, so now I'm a baker too!

I've always been a big Calphalon fan... they make some of the best cookware on the market and I use mine for dinner prep every night. It's more expensive then the mainstream stuff you might find at your local K-Mart, but you get what you pay for.

I was now eager to try out their baking stuff. It's been great! I've used all the pieces in this baking set several times now without a glitch. You can tell the quality just by picking up the various pieces... heavy, unyielding -- you know it's gonna last a lifetime.

The stuff is non-stick -- important to a baking neophyte such as myself -- and everything I've made has glided out of the pans effortlessly, evenly cooked through and through without the burnt edges. It makes it seem as though I know what I'm doing!

As to the previous review that said it was made in China and therefore junk ... well, I'm not sure what he's talking about. I'm not sure where this stuff is made, and I don't really care. It's pretty much a global economy now, so I don't worry too much about the "buy American" contingent.

His claims that the jellyroll pan warped is just NOT possible. (Unless he left it in the oven for many, many hours at 500 degrees!) I've used mine four or five times now without incident. (My sister, who gave me this, also has a set and has used it with great success as well.) I have a feeling this guy either is writing accidentally about the wrong brand name, or is just lying in order to fuel his weird NeoCon agenda, which has no place on Amazon.

If you love to bake... you'll really be in heaven with this Calphalon set. If you are not much of baker (like me) this is liable to turn you into one!

Enjoy! Oh, and send me a muffin.
Made in CHINA, need I say more? - Reviewed on 2005-06-23

Almost every China made product that I use is of the worst quality and these are no exception. I bought this set and a larger flat baking pan for my wife, THE VERY FIRST TIME I cooked something with either of the flat pans they warped in the oven. When they cool down they flaten out again, so everytime I cook with them I hear a crashing sound from the oven. After reading other reviews on Calphalon, I thought I was buying quality bakeware. Got the packages and saw the fine print reading "Made in China", somehow I knew there was going to be a problem. So I've decided to ditch this garbage and get something made in the U.S. like pyrex glass bakeware. Its not non-stick, but since non-stick is a PITA to take care of(can't wash in the dishwasher, can't stack the pans w/ out a protection sheet so they don't get scratched, etc) I don't really care. Non-stick spray is cheap. Don't get suckered, and perhaps support the U.S. economy at the same time and buy something else.

And to the Calphalon lover above: Yes I make it my hobby to run around spreading lies about bakeware!!! ahahahahha!! Grow up, I've had problems with them warping if you would like I can send you some pics.

"Global economy" yeah sure, thats fine as long as your job isn't sent over seas to people who get paid a fraction of what you would. BTW, I'm a student in college so please don't think I'm an old bitter person who's job got sent away, I just think its pathetic that companies sacrifice our economy and their product quality to make a few more bucks.

Also your logic that it would take "many many hours at 500degrees" to warp a pan is quite odd, what do you think happens to the pan after it reaches 500degrees? 2hours later its still 500degrees, as well as 2 days later. So if its going to warp at 500degrees it'll do it when it reaches that temp not at some random time thereafter. And no the oven wasn't at 500, I believe it was 450 that the french fry maker suggested.

Just a word of warning, I bought this intending to give as a gift. It came in the original Caphalon box and so the box was very beaten up. It's not exactly in gift-giving condition, although the actual contents seem to be none-the-worse for wear.
