Editorial Reviews and Product Descriptions

Product Description

From the comfortably arched handles to the stylish flared silhouettes, the Calphalon Contemporary line is designed to please. Looks aren't everything however, and this cookware line is not simply another pretty face! No indeed, this collection is constructed of heavy gauge aluminum, reknowned for its fast and even heating, and it's lined with durable non-stick for easy clean up and low fat cooking. Lids are of tempered glass to allow visual monitoring of the cooking process. This large sauce pan is excellent for cooking grains, making soup, boiling vegetables and more.

The is a great product, it heats up fast but so do the handles...still need something to insulate the handles before holding on it....

First, this is more accurately called a sauce POT rather than a saucepan--it's about 8.5 inches at the bottom and gradually flares to 10 inches at the top; it's 5 inches tall (w/o cover); and it has two loop handles, which are easy to grasp. The pot is not too heavy, but it heats very evenly, and the nonstick works well and looks perfect after 6 months of heavy use (I don't use metal utensils). The curved bottom makes stirring and scraping easier, and I find the domed glass cover helpful. Clean-up is a cinch--I do handwash. I've found this pot to be very versatile--for sauces, risotto, chili, rice, pastas, soups, stews (start on the stovetop and finish in the oven), and even smaller batches of stock (because you can fill it almost to the top). Last but not least, this pot is nicely compact for its capacity, and is attractive enough to put on the table--nice, sleek lines! I recommend this without reservation.
