Editorial Reviews and Product Descriptions

Product Description

Endorsed by none other than the legendary French chef Paul Bocuse (the only restaurateur in the world to be awarded the prestigious Michelin 3 Stars for over 36 consecutive years), Cuisinart's Chef's Classic stainless cookware is high quality, yet affordable. Unlike many lines of cookware, this can go in the dishwasher for clean up, yet the aluminum core within the base provides even and efficient heating. Any cook would be happy to have this nicely crafted pan on hand for sauteing and frying. The stainless steel interior is non-reactive with food and it's also tough enough to withstand the use of metal utensils. True browning is very difficult with non-stick interiors, so many chefs insist on using a traditional pan such as this. The large 12" size is ideal for cooking pancakes, chicken breasts, pork chops and more.
Amazon.com Review

Sauté mushrooms or brown sausages to perfection in this classic 12-inch Cuisinart skillet--the sloped sides are ideal for tossing and turning small pieces of food. Made of professional quality 18/10 stainless steel that won’t react with acidic foods, the skillet features a tapered rim for drip-free pouring and a riveted, cast stainless-steel handle that's contoured for an easy grip. The skillet’s mirror finish retains its brightness through dishwasher, freezer, broiler, and oven use up to 550 degrees Fahrenheit. For superior, even heating, an aluminum disk is encapsulated between two layers of stainless steel in the base. Cuisinart covers the skillet with a lifetime warranty.--Ann Bieri

I love the Cuisinart Classic Stainless steel 12 inch open skillet. I have been using it almost daily since it was delivered. GREAT pan. It heats food up much quicker than with an ordinary skillet. I used to have the 10 inch skillets and the 12 inch really makes a difference. More room in the pan and it makes cooking alot easier!
The pan is very easy to clean. I love the added feature of the "helper handle". The pan is very well made!
The only thing is, you need to use a silicone or teflon coated spatula or spoon , otherwise it will scratch the skillet. You just have to read the instructions about it before using. I have had no problem with it.
I definitely recommend it!

I was initially very pleased, the first time I saw this line of pans. They had all the features I was looking for, and at a reasonable price (as opposed to the price gouging of All-Clad, Calphalon, etc...). But then I bought one and carefully made my inspection of it. To make a long story short, I went through FOUR of these skillets, and absolutely none of them made the grade. I'm not talking about being nitpicky about a tiny scratch somewhere. Two of the four pans had moderate corrosion pitting and black spots on the handles. One of them had damaged metal around the lip of the pan. And worst of all - three out of four of them were CRACKED at the weld joints at the base of the handle, on one of the two forks where they meet the plate that's riveted to the pan itself. I don't know about you, but a good price isn't worth the possibility of third degree burns down the entire front of my body on the day those weld joints give way completely.

These Cuisinart pans fall under the category of things that *look* really good for the price, but whose actual quality is far less than it appears. Maybe some of you have gotten very lucky in the batch of pans you received - and if I had gotten one bad pan, I could have chalked it up to a lemon - after all, everyone has them from time to time. But FOUR pans being bad? With THREE of them having a serious defect in the structural integrity? Sorry - they lost me as a customer of their entire brand, and I would caution others not to be blinded by the shiny looks of a poorly made pan.

We love the skillet! It's very easy cleanup with it, and we don't have to worry about fumes poisoning our birds! The only thing we don't like is that both handles get hot and we have to use a potholder to hold the pan. Other than that - it's wonderful!

We never could afford nice pans previously and the latest non-stick pans we had were wearing out. Also the non-stick was coming off in our food.... Not healthy!
So I decided to get something that was going to last and spend a little bit more than the "walmart special". What to get though was the question... The amazon reviews helped big time!
So I bought my wife several Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless Pans.

My wife loves the Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless Pans I have bought her. She has had them for about a year now and they still look and work great. She now highly recommends them and it looks like I got her a great gift that she likes to use and will last years.
Finally, I bought something worthwhile.

You would think if it's stainless steel, then it would be, well, stainless. But after cooking on it just a few times it has a black build up that's hard to remove. I think it's from the Pam that I use on it. I guess technically it is stainless steel, but just know that it can collect gunk that's hard to scrub off.
