Editorial Reviews and Product Descriptions

Editorial Review

While few have ever wondered what would happen if you combined the delightfully odd SpongeBob SquarePants with the classically bizarre Mr. Potato Head, it's happened. And the world is better for it. This set features a basic SpongeBob doll that can be accessorized with three different sets of eyes, two mouths, two arms, a hat, a spatula, a net, a jellyfish, and Gary the snail. From there, you're free to alter SpongeBob's moods or locate him at home or at work making Krabby Patties. We found the component parts to be easily interchangeable and the toy to be as addictive as SpongeBob's TV show. Hopefully future editions will feature SpongeBob's pals Patrick and Squidward. --Charlie Williams

Move over Mr. Potato Head! - Reviewed on 2007-01-19

This is so cute. Same idea as Mr. Potato Head but is more "current" with the times and what the kids like. I will always love Mr. Potato Head but since my kids enjoy Spongebob so much, this was perfect! Keep those little pieces together, though!

Spongebob IS making an obscene gesture. Personally, I don't think it is an appropriate toy for children. Anyone that thinks Spongebob is merely "pointing" a finger shouldn't be so naive as to how toys are marketed and the moral decline of our society!!!

Pretty boring. Body is squishy and rubbery and any lint, fuzz or dog hair sticks to it. Only a few different ways to position him with the little accessories. After a few minutes, the kids are done. Has to lie down because it won't stand up. We gave it away because my kids didn't play with it and wanted somebody else to have it. They had a friend who always took it off our shelf when he came over to play so we sent him home with it.

It is just like Mr. Potato Head except not as many pieces. There aren't very many options to dress SBSP, but he is always a fun toy. After a year of play, he is a little torn at the edges, but overall in good shape.

I should have paid more attention to the reviews. He is top heavy. There's also no way to store the extra parts like Mr. Potato Head. But I love Spongebob anyway and he's now a part of my collection.
