This is much better than the Frydaddy I had before. This is much safer to use and less messy and easier to clean.

I've wanted to try deep-frying cooking for a while now (about 6 years or so), and kept putting it off. I tried before on a stove with a pot of oil and a candy thermometer, and found it really messy (splatter everywhere), and incredibly hard to keep a constant temperature which meant that everything cooked unevenly.

I wanted to get one and found this on sale at Amazon. I decided to get it, though I had concerns about the size of the unit and how much I'd be able to fry. When I finally got the unit, I was really surprised how big it was. Not huge, but definitely not the tiny toy I expected. You don't fill it with oil, you only put in about 1/3 the "tank", though that's still enough. I can fry quite a bit at a time, about an entire plate's worth of food (not just one serving). It's really a whole lot more convenient than pot frying.

Some features I really appreciated: basket that gets lowered into the oil, and can be raised above it. That means you can raise the food outta the oil and let it drip for a bit. Thermostat and oil temp setting; set the oil temp and the unit keeps it there, great for frying consistency. Lid with charcoal filter; really does keep the smell down a lot, and almost no splatter. Easy to clean; remove pot, basket, take off lid and remove gasket and charcoal filter. Clean everything normally (sink or dishwasher). Put together and store. Takes about 10 minutes to do this, and no leftover oil residue on the main unit itself.

I love it, and am completely surprised something so cheap does so well. No major complaints. The only minor one I have now is that the cord is incredibly short (about 2-3 feet?). I understand this is for safety reasons, it's also a huge pain. However, with all the positives I readily look past this small negative.

Highly recommended, unless you need something with more capacity. It's perfect for 1-2 people, and with a bit more time would do fine for a normal family.

Love the product. It is perfect for cooking for a small family. The removable bowl for easy cleaning is what I liked best about this. Initial heating time is a little slow - about 15-20 minutes.

Good fryer, nice size, very easy to clean (has removal oil pan that can be placed in dishwasher); my only complaint is unit is kinda slow to reach desired temperature.
