a great little dollhouse - Reviewed on 2009-01-05

I bought 2 of these for my 3 yr old grandbabies this Christmas. This is a sturdy little dollhouse and so convenient to take and go someplace. I will say- the doll family that you suggest to go with this particular dollhouse is a bit too large for the furniture.(and the house) It doesn't matter terribly because kids are imaginative and don't need everything perfect...but I would have liked a family that was a bit smaller to go with this house. It would be very helpful if every company labeled the scale of the house and the size of the dolls so we'd have the best fit. I ordered the Ryan's room bunk beds, the cute little car and the nursery to add to the furniture already in the house...and the girls love these extras.(No matter if it all fits in- some of the dollies sleep in the yard!) I have listened to their interactive play and it is most entertaining! You won't be sorry if you buy this.
Yes, it's even good for boys - Reviewed on 2008-12-29

I was very happy with this doll house. I actually bought it for my 4 and 5 year old sons. It's perfect for boys's cause it doesnt look "girley". They loved the garage which went up and down very realisticly. My mom liked that they actually had a stair case to go up and down stairs, that use to upset her as a child that there were two levels to a doll house but no stairs to go up and down (haha) My husband liked the good craftsmenship of the house very well built could withstand two roudy boys (very important in our house haha) I was happy with the size of the house, from what i could see on line i thought it was smaller but was pleasantly surprised how much bigger it was for the price. Doll houses are very expensive these days it was nice to see that i could get good quality and good size for low cost!!!!!
Great Dollhouse to Custom Paint - Reviewed on 2008-12-12

I purchased this dollhouse so that I could paint it for my 4 year old daughter's Christmas gift. I made a bogus "Custom Paint Order Form from Santa's Workshop" and asked my daughter how she would like the house painted by the elves. It has taken several weeks (off and on) but the house is just about finished...hard to find time when daughter is not home. The house is a great project start point once you lightly sand the surfaces that you will paint. I have done a groovy exterior using bright colors and wooden cut outs from a craft store (trees, picket fences, stars, moon, sun, etc). I think she will approve when Santa delivers it on Christmas. The elves are going to send the paint along with the dollhouse so that Daddy can custom paint the interior rooms with my daughter once it arrives. Fun project but it has taken more time than I had anticipated... One challenge has been that the very strong glue holding the dollhouse is on some of the roof and wall surfaces and is nearly impossible to remove without further damage to the surfaces. Overall the house is designed and constructed well. I'm pleased for the price. I think this item will pass to future generations.
Perfection! - Reviewed on 2008-12-06

I searched diligently for a dollhouse I could use myself, for thinking about fiction plots. I don't have a lot of space, didn't want to spend too much money, wanted something that would not fall apart, and needed to be able to put it out of reach of my curious dogs.

Buying a dollhouse and then buying furniture separately, oh my, the sky is the limit on expense. That might be lots of fun in a different situation, but not good for mine.

Then I find this dollhouse from Melissa & Doug, a company whose products I trust, and good information about it online. All wood, except I suppose the hair on the two dolls! But all the furniture and the house, wood, wood, wood. It folds easily and fits on a shelf, presto. The garage door opens--what a hoot that is!!! And no batteries!

I just love this little dollhouse. Merry Christmas--to me!
for play therapy - Reviewed on 2008-11-30

the dollhouse is used as a play therapy tool. It is study enough to weather many children playing different ways. The kids love the garage because it is close to what most kids have.
I especially like how it travels well. I just wish it had a latch, but otherwise is very portable.
