Jurassic Park Forever - Reviewed on 2008-12-23
This game is divided into four modes: Jurassic Park , Exercises , Missions, and Site B. First , before i throw my evaluation in your face im going to warn you that if you played the demo disregard it. the game is very different.
First, the backbone of the game. Jurassic park building is extremely fun and entertaining. it stays true to the films. the music is extremely good. the graphics are very good. the people are individuals and will wander around lost if there are no paths. the humans are typical of this type of game. there is no challenge at all in the economic part of things. you might hold this against it because of the lack of money trouble, but this is part of the games genious. you will spend all of your time dealing with overly intelligent velociraptors, and rampaging t.rex's. the best part is that you have the choice of hunting down the monsters yourself. you control a lot of things if you want to but you can put certain items on auto if you feel like it too. if you dont watch yourself you will literally spend hours of fun on your own jurassic park. when carnivores attack people it gets nasty. this game is rated T for a reason. the screams, blood, and motion are very realistic. the best part of this mode is destroying a piece of fence, letting carnivores escape and go out in a jeep and take pictures of guests getting eaten.
Exercises are a combination of tutorials and building challenges. the first seven or so show you how to make dinosaurs and build stuff. the rest are sort of challenges where you build a park within the guidelines given. its pretty fun. some are partially built, this gives a shorter oppertunity to set loose rexy and his pals. these also give needed experience to build your park.
missions are the very essence of this game and relieve that bug you get when playing a sim too long. these are cut and dry gaming challenges where you go on a safari photo shoot and avoid carnivore attacks, or go in a security helicopter with your trusty rifle and "retire" rampaging carnivores. they are extremely fun and entertaining. you can not shoot people in case you were wondering. (the game would be rated M otherwise)you get lots of demerits if you injer or kill herbivores though. the aiming system is awesome though, so you wont have to worry about this much unless your target is attacking a brachiosaur. my only gripe is that there arent a ton of them.
and now what you have been waiting for, site B. the lost world. this is fun at first. the game plays endearing original music from the film when herbivores ar breeded. dark, foreboding music is played when carnivores are released. this is ok. its fun to watch spinosaurus and such hunt herbivores at first. eventually the herbivores wander away from danger and rexy discovers that he is not the only king on the island.carnivores fights are not to be missed.the best fight i have seen so far on my game is a dozen rators versus a allosaurus. raptors rule. all of this happens in jurassic park building mode too though. the only difference is that you cant build a park enterance.
all in all this is a great game.
