I got this item as a gift when our baby was born. I think it is cute, although I think the uses are very specific. Like many other reviewers said - it is not a good floor playmat because it's just not big enough. To be fair, the manufacturer discloses the size right in the description so this should be no surprise. I think the best use is to bring it in the car for baby to look at and touch, or hang it over a changing table. My baby stared at the black and white images for extended periods, and I'm sure it helped with her visual development. Even if it didn't, I am definitely satisfied with this mat because it gave us some quiet moments in the car. Mat = $18.99, Quiet moments in the car= priceless.

I bought this mat having read the reviews and therefore I knew that I was buying something small - and it is! The description does not provide the dimensions and I haven't measurned it but it is about a one quarter of the size of a normal floor playmat.

I would also say that the quality could be a little better.

Having said all that it is a very useful toy that can be taken everywhere. It's easy to hang in the car and provides entertainment for the journey. We currently have ours hanging on the side of our "pack and play". Jack loves the mirror on one side and the noise from the sun flower when you press it.

The folding ablility and the fact there are different features on each side is also great - lots of black and white for really young babies and colors on the other side as they get a bit older.

As an addtional toy, and not a 'playmat' per se, I think this is a great buy.

This has been one of our better purchases. We travel all the time and this is so lightweight and easy to fold up and pack. This is not actually a playmat despite the title. You can hang it from the side of a crib. It's reversible - one side is more black and white for infants and the other is colors. You can also fold it up into a triangle shape which is great for entertaining your baby during tummy time.

This playmat has two sides, one features mostly black and white with some colored patterns and textures while the other side has brightly colored pictures and the flower in the middle has a squeaker. The playmat can be used folded into a triangle or laid flat or hung from wherever you and baby would like. I used the mat in the playpen and now I use it on the floor in the triangle fold for my son to crawl toward. Also, great to hang on backseat for baby to stare at.

A great hypnotic toy...my son learned to fall asleep on his own by stairing at this playmat!! I have it hanging on the crib and he will look at it until he falls asleep. He is amazed by it. I got it when he was 5 weeks old (wish I had it sooner) and he LOVED the black and white side. He never got sick of it. Now at 12 weeks he wasn't as interested in that side and I was worried that the magic was over so finally I flipped it and...ta da, he instantly was amazed all over again with the color!

We love it, and hope it works as well for you.

If you are going to let your baby play on it, please do remove the velcro. It is very sharp.
