Product Description

Best Actor Oscar® nominee* Tom Hulce (Amadeus) is outstanding in this heartwarming triumph of feel-good filmmaking. This "astonishing" (Toronto Sun) "spellbinding" (L.A. Weekly) and "touching exploration of family loyalty" (Blockbuster Entertainment Guide) shimmers with subtle insights into human compassion and shines with Hulce's award-winning performance.** "Hulce is superb" (Leonard Maltin) as Dominick an affectionate twenty-six-year-old who's been left "slower" than most due to a childhood accident. Working as a garbage man "Nicky" manages to support himself and his brother Eugene (Ray Liotta Heartbreakers) a med student who's always watched over him. But when Eugene's ambitions open a door for him at Stanford and he develops an interest in a fellow student (Jamie Lee Curtis) Nicky's worst fears are realized. Can the two of them forge ahead with separate lives when they've depended on each other for so long?Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: DRAMA Rating: NR UPC: 027616868282 Manufacturer No: 1002628

Ray Liotta stars as a talented medical intern whose life is stalled due to his devotion to a sweet-natured but retarded twin brother (Tom Hulce). This touching film by Robert M. Young (The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez) may sound like a dreary, made-for-television potboiler, but it is full of interesting moments as Hulce's character--a garbage collector--follows his curiosity about the world and his sibling's new girlfriend (Jamie Lee Curtis). Young really works the bond between the two men: at one point he takes an overhead shot of the brothers showering, and it resembles what they must have looked like together as babies sharing the same womb. Hulce and Liotta are great together; it is easy to believe in every emotion they share. --Tom Keogh

This is one of my favorite films. Its a sweet, well written story of a mentally challenged man(played by Tom Hulce) and his twin brother(Ray Liotta) and their life together. Tom Hulce gives and outstanding and under rated, often subtle and moving perfomance. This movie will make you laugh, cry and think. THis movie is the antidote to Forest Gump and Radio.
Italians without gangsters. - Reviewed on 2007-08-16

The previous reviewers are all right: this is a soul wrenching, tear jerking, should-have-won-an-Oscar movie. It is a beautiful story of two brothers, and the love and secret pain of the past that they share. Hulce's acting is supurb, and both Liotta and Curtis are impressive. Dominik and Eugene is also refreshing as a story of Italian American characters with no gangsters in sight. Martin Scorsese could not have done this one. A must-own movie that also makes a wonderful gift.

This is a heart warming tear jerker, and not just because of the two great main characters. Todd Graff is great as Nicky's garbage collector partner, and this was the first movie in which I saw David Straithairn, who has gone on to be one of the best and most underrated actors ever. I believe the young boy who plays his son might be Edward Furlong, of "The Terminator" fame. Not sure on that, though. At any rate, the whole story is great and so well acted. I'm buying the DVD so I can watch it any time I want.
Tom Hulce's lovably, heartwarming performance - Reviewed on 2005-01-16

Once again Tom Hulce extends his superior talent toward a character who is not only believably real, but who exemplifies the goodness and innocence that lies inside of all human beings. Tom Hulce became my favorite actor after I saw his comical, yet vulnerably inclined performance in Amadeus. It's unfortunate that he has not been recognized for his list of powerful performances with anything but Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations. His ability to take on extremely memorable and complex characters as well as the emotions he imparts through facial expressions is invaluable in an actor and it is one of the features that make Tom Hulce the extraordinary actor he is. He truly embodies the innocence and goodness in Dominick ("Nicky")Luciano. Through Dominick, Hulce instills the importance of the human spirit, emotions, and ties that everyday people are bound to and makes his audience want to search for the uniqueness in every individual.

I just saw this movie like last night. It was on one of the movie channels, encore. Wow, this has to be either my second or third favorite movie (Rain Man being the first then Stand by Me). First of all, I'm 13 years old, and I love like all old movies from the 70s and 80s. Anyway, this is about two brothers, Dominick who's brain damaged, and Eugene who's studying to become a surgeon. It's such a great movie, and it will make you laugh and cry. I recammend this to young and old alike.
