The Invisibility and Howler cards have also given her some strategic perception which many of the other kids in the neighborhood don't possess.
As a parent, I think that this particular version of Uno was great for getting my step-daughter to learn the rules and how to be a cunning and occasionally merciless cardshark. The Harry Potter theme engaged her to exercise her mind initially, and now its the thrill of the game that keeps her playing.
Looking beyond her sometimes questionable motives, we have seen that she is much better at understanding complex relationships, both within the game and also in everyday life. We also feel that this is NOT something she learned in our (if you can believe it) very good public schools in our area.
There is really only one thing I don't like about Harry Potter Uno. Remember in original Uno... the draw two card? In this version it's draw three. Not a big change... but.. I don't know. Maybe it's because I'm a traditionalist or something. Adding cards is one thing... but changing one? But it's a petty issue. Really, it's a great game.
As I said before, if you like Uno, you'll love this.
