Description
Riggs wows the pretties of a hotel spa before getting to Getz. Murtaugh receives bad bodywork news from an auto repairman after his beleaguered station wagon sees some Riggs-piloted street action. Plus, feisty Leo shares a newly included scene in which he recalls a suspect's address by complex spins of numbers that, well, no one can tell it like Leo. And no one would follow his lead but Riggs and Murtaugh. It's police procedure, Lethal style. Ant it's yours to enjoy as the duo draws a head on criminals hiding behind diplomatic immunity.

The series formula started to kick in with this immediate sequel to Lethal Weapon, but that doesn't necessarily make it a weak movie. Joe Pesci joins the fold, Richard Donner directs again, and Mel Gibson and Danny Glover return as LAPD partners, their relationship smoother now that Gibson's character has recovered from his maddening grief over his wife's death. But the reckless Mel and cautious Danny equation, good for a million laughs, settles into place in this story involving a South African smuggler and a new girlfriend (Patsy Kensit) for Gibson. The movie is hardly comfy, though. The last act gets nasty, and a climactic fight between Gibson (who gets the worst of it) and some high-kicking villain is ugly. --Tom Keogh

Wonderful movie but not good transfer to Blu-ray - Reviewed on 2008-07-24

First of all, I love this movie. The first two Leathal Weapon movies are so good. It is so much fun to watch the two very different main characters work together. The movie is a bit dated, but not much, and it is wonderful to see it again, I haven't seen it in over 15 years.
Now for the Blu-ray itself. I can't say that I am impressed at all. If I was to rate just the picture I would give it two stars. I use a 40' Sony KDL-40W2000, a Denon AVR-2803 and a PS3, such equipment isn't exactly high end. There are very clear evidence of the picture being encoded in 1080i (interlaced) and not progressive. There are so many times that I can clearly see empty line in between the lines in the picture. An example is the scene in the grocery store when Riggs meets miss van den Haas and they are standing at each end of the fruit stand. I could very clearly see lines in the price tags. Another example is the end credits sequence where the letters were very edgy. There are so many other example of this.
The sound, though, is quite good, for a late 80s movie. I thought, though, that the sound on the first Leathal Weapon on Blu-ray was a tad better.
So despite of the picture I will keep it, since I don't have it in any other format. But if you have the movie on DVD I would wait and hope for a better version to come out on Blu-ray.
more fun and mayhem with Mel Gibson and Danny Glover(and Joe Pesci) - Reviewed on 2008-03-01
to me,this is a better movie than the first one.it's got much more
action,it's more exciting,and faster paced.it's also funnier.the
characters are better defined, and the storyline is better.i also think
this movie had a better villain than the first.this time, along with
Danny Glover and Mel Gibson,Joe Pesci is along for the ride, and
provides some laughs.also, there is more banter between Gibson and
Glover.the movie is just more compelling all around.the first one was a
bit slow at times, but not so with this one.for me,Lethal Weapon 2 is a
