Amazon.com Review

A deceptively simple-looking tool, the BoWrench is a boon for both professional deck builders and do-it-yourselfers. The BoWench gives you a fast, one-person way to straighten decking boards. This is great, because decking material--whether redwood, cedar, or another, more exotic rot-resistant wood--is often warped, especially in 14- to 16-foot lengths. To operate the BoWrench, you simply fit the tool on a joist, swing the lever arm, and release. You can either push or pull boards into alignment, and when the handle is perpendicular, the tool locks in place, holding the board securely and leaving you free to drive nails or screws. The BoWrench is better than toenailing. Burying nails in the sides of decking to close gaps works, but it gives water more ways to enter the decking, which eventually leads to rot. With the BoWrench, you'll save time, create a longer-lasting surface, and maximize material. Using the special cam attachment (sold separately), the BoWrench replaces the clumsy beater block as the best way to close gaps in tongue-and-groove plywood and paneling. --Jon Groebner

Good thing I didn't have this when I installed my T&G porch...I don't know what I would have done with the extra time and energy! Works great I am currently installing a T&G ceiling and it works awesome. Also bought the T&G adaptor. Thinking of the adjustable joist attachment as well, but that costs nearly as much as the wrench itself. Highly recommended.

Perfect tool for straightening bowed deck boards. Without this tool there really is no good way on to straighten a board. I highly recommend.

The BoWrench made laying 12 foot 2x6 as easy as pie. I replaced my 23 year old 2x6 deck floor. It was so much easier to straighten out the curves and keep the boards nice and tight. Highly recommend this tool and the product came just when they said it would.
BoWrench Great Tool for DIYers or Pros - Reviewed on 2008-06-27

I recently bought and used the BoWrench decking tool. I had to redo my 70' X 8' deck and the 2 year-old pressure treated boards were warped horribly in every way imaginable. I was able to salvage all but a few of boards and could have probably used it if I had strained a litle. The tool was easy to use once I got used to it. At first I had a tendency to get the tool too close to the board that I was bending back in place, and I couldn't push it enough to lock the BoWrench in place. Through trial and error I found the correct position, and by doing this I also stopped bending the floor joists that the tool rests on. Note that the "correct position" changes depending on how badly warped the board is. I also found that it was much easier to use on the "new" decking boards that I used to replace some of my older boards. You can set it up to push or pull on the board you are working on, which really helps when you are getting close to an edge. I love it and I recommend it to anyone who is building a deck.
Tool not like the picture - Reviewed on 2008-06-25

I just received the BW-2 BoWrench tool. and have used it on one decking board. It seems to work ok, but the tool received is not at all like the tool advertised in the picture. Time will tell if it will be as useful as I was expecting.
