Bobby Charles and Woodstock - Reviewed on 2007-08-09

I knew Bobby Charles when we both lived in Woodstock, NY. He wrote a lot of these songs about the town and people in it. I have since lost all my record albums and have been searching for a CD of this record. It was recorded at the Bearsville Studio in Bearsville, NY, and the owner (Albert Grossman) was the brunt of He's Got All the Money. I need to get this CD if anyone has it at a reasonable price.

I can't believe I found this CD again. I used to play the album on the radio when it first came out, and it's remained in my memory one of the best albums ever. Bobby Charles is a very well-known Louisiana singer & songwriter in a swamp-pop style. he wrote "See you Later Alligator" and lots of hits for folks like Fats Domino. As I recall this album has members of The Band on it. I believe there was some sort of dispute with the original label that prevented it from being widely promoted, and it was out of print for a long tmie. But it's a very good album if you like the Band/Louisiana style sound. "Tennessee Blues" is a killer. Now I'm going to stop talking and go order this.
