Product Description

Here for the first time in one place is everything you will ever need to know in order to survive just about any difficult or dangerous situation.  Drawing from dozens of the U.S. Army’s official field manuals, editor Jay McCullough has culled a thousand pages of the most useful and curious tidbits for the would-be soldier, historian, movie-maker, writer, or survivalist—including techniques on first aid; survival in the hottest or coldest of climates; finding or building life-saving shelters; surviving nuclear, biological, and chemical attacks; physical and mental fitness, and how to find food and water anywhere, anytime. With hundreds of photographs and illustrations showing everything from edible plants to rare skin diseases of the jungle, every page reveals how useful Army knowledge can be.

A Little Different Than What I expected - Reviewed on 2008-10-18

It is obviously an incredible source for survival and combat. I bought it as a gift for a friend and was looking just for an out-of-doors survival guide, I was surprised to see so much on weapons and warfare. I should have looked through the book before I ordered it. We are non violent and do not carry arms so much of the information is wasted on us and our friend. None the less, it certainly carries an encyclopedia of information about all kinds of situations including some psychology items about persevering under impossible circumstances as well as excellent illustrations and descriptions, very important for identifying edible and poisonous plants.
A Must for Everyone - Reviewed on 2008-10-15

This book is a must for everyone! Even if you don't plan to live alone out in the wilderness, there is information everyone can use. If you go camping, take this book along for first aid and identifying poisonous plants. Yes, there are chapters in self defense, but what single women wouldn't benefit from that?!
Just read it and you will know how good it is. - Reviewed on 2008-09-29

This book it about some survival skills and self defense skills and even how to survive in extreme conditions such as a Nuclear Fallout or Bio Weapon survival. If you are not so extreme though, choose another book.

We're very happy with our purchase of this survival guide. As others have stated, it is a very complete and detailed book on survival skills for almost any occasion. It also has a very good first aid section. We haven't had time to read through too much of it yet, but we feel more confident hiking and camping in the more secluded areas of the Rockies. This guide is very thick and a little too heavy to carry in a backpack on some occasions, which is why we'll take copies of some of the pages with us on our camping trips when we can't carry the whole book along with us. It has definitely been a good purchase for us.

This book is massive. It is huge, and full of everything you could possibly want to know on the subject matter. It covers first aid, shelter building, rock and tree types, and so much more. It even has mid-range combat options and tutorials. If you are even remotely interesting in this book, I highly suggest you pick it up.
