Great compilation - Reviewed on 2008-05-10
Whether you have been meditating for years or days, Walking Meditation offers the opportunity to take the practice of mindfulness and present moment living into action.
Walking Meditation contains a CD, DVD and book providing the opportunity to learn this practice at your pace with the expert instruction of two wonderful teachers. The book includes a description of the varieties of practice, with markers for the CD/DVD tracks.
The CD features Nguyen Anh-Houng and begins with a meditation on conscious breathing, and then explores the practice of walking meditation for ourselves, with nature, with others and for healing emotions.
The DVD features the founder of Mindfulness, Thich Nhat Hahn, offering instructions on being in the present moment, the practice of walking meditation, and the importance of smiling, much of which is archival footage.
"The idea is that we do not put anything ahead of ourselves and run after it. When we practice walking meditation, we walk in this spirit. We just enjoy walking, with no particular aim or destination. We walk for the sake of walking."- Thich Nhat Hahn
Very good intro to walking meditation - Reviewed on 2007-04-10

I really like the dvd that comes with this, where you get to see Thay actually teaching a group of students how to do walking meditation. Ms. Nguyen, who teaches on the cd, is less effective, for me. She talks TOO slow and I get impatient with her. (I know, "meditate on this"!)
The book is short, though it also does give a lot of basic info on walking meditation.
Overall, I think this is a worthwhile purchase, especially if you can find it on sale. The dvd is the best part, but the book and the cd are also worthwhile.
