Editorial Reviews and Product Descriptions

Product Description

A Vatican envoy on a secret mission is murdered and an invaluable gold cross is stolen during the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. The cross and its hidden message surface in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina hits. Grisly serial murders in Put-in-Bay and the French Quarter lure a Washington Post investigative reporter into an intricate labyrinth complicated by confidential documents stolen from the Vatican's Secret Archives and two rogue priests, banished from the Vatican. From the blue waters surrounding Lake Erie's South Bass Island to the sultry heat of Louisiana's vibrant French Quarter, Promised Land delivers police corruption, medical suspense, perilous alligator and poisonous snake encounters, the catastrophic impact of Hurricane Katrina, and a string of gruesome murders. The trail of the murders leads the reporter to the surprising discovery of a document that may destroy the legitimacy of the United States.

As a resident of New Orleans and an annual visitor to Put-in-Bay I thoroughly enjoyed reading the latest novel by Bob Adamov. Its always a pleasure to read about places one has been and Mr. Adamov's references to places in the two cities didn't disappoint. As in his other books, the combination of historical fact and current day fiction make this, and the previous books, hard to put down. The numerous twists, turns, and characters keep the reader in suspense until the end. I highly recommend all the books in the series to any reader who wants an easy, entertaining read.

The latest volume in the Island Mystery series by Bob Adamov, Promised Land is a haunting novel about secrets and repercussions rippling from the Vatican to New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. A gutsy Creole detective and her partner are thrust amid a web of deceit and murder, sparked by missing documents whose hidden secret just might undermine the legitimacy of the United States. Promised Land is a rush of nail-biting excitement, sure to keep the reader's attention glued to the last page. Also highly recommended are Adamov's previous Island Mystery novels, "Rainbow's End", "Pierce the Veil", and "When Rainbows Walk".

I truly enjoyed Mr Adamov's writing, this book couldn't be put down until I had finished reading. He paints such a vivid picture of the story he is telling you have no problem following his thoughts. He keeps leading you along on his journey you have no choice but to follow and be totally involved in the story line. The swamp scene was a little drawn out but enjoyable with the colorful people he described. I like the way he has kept his book in the present day but includes history at the beginning. It makes you feel like it has really happened. I have totally enjoyed all of Mr. Adamov's books and look forward to the next one.
