One of the best publications written about emeralds - Reviewed on 2005-03-06

ExtraLapis's publication "Emeralds of the World", along with "Emerald and other Beryls" (by John Sinkankas), has to be among the best written and most comprehensive writings about this beautiful gemstone. Although it goes fairly in depth into the chemical composition, geophysical origin and crystallography of beryls, it differentiates the emeralds of various parts of the world (Brazil, Zambia, Pakistan, and Russia) and in a certain way it measures them up against Colombian emeralds, which in my opinion are the yardstick by which all other emeralds are measured in terms of color, clarity, and size. With flawless photography by Erika and Harold Van Pelt, one definitely recognizes this as a top-of-the-line publication. This is a great addition to any gem collector's and geologist's library.
