We have included some sections on topics (such as multitasking) that do not apply to all Forth systems. The reason for this is to convey some of the range of capabilities of modern Forth implementations and how they can apply to writing important applications in Forth.
The course presented in this book is intended to introduce Forth to people with little or no prior experience in the language. However, it does assume the reader is familiar with general computing concepts (bytes, memory, addresses, data objects, etc.). Prior programming experience in some language is helpful (though not required).
