Product Description
In this rich, vibrant tale, Diana Gabaldon continues the story of Claire Randall and Jamie Fraser that began with the now-classic novel Outlander and continued in Dragonfly in Amber. Sweeping us from the battlefields of eighteenth-century Scotland to the exotic West Indies, Diana Gabaldon weaves magic once again in an exhilarating and utterly unforgettable novel....
Their love affair happened long ago by whatever measurement Claire Randall took. Two decades before, she had traveled back in time and into the arms of a gallant eighteenth-century Scot named Jamie Fraser. Then she returned to her own century to bear his child, believing him dead in the tragic battle of Culloden. Yet his memory has never lessened its hold on her ... and her body still cries out for him in her dreams.
When she discovers that Jamie may have survived, Claire must choose her destiny. And as time and space come full circle, she must find the courage to face what awaits her ... the deadly intrigues raging in a divided Scotland ... and the daring voyage into the dark unknown that lies beyond the standing stones.

What a Ride! - Reviewed on 2008-11-26
So much has already been said about this series of books, but I can't help it, I have to add my two cents just in case there are still people out there who have put off reading this series because of the time-travel aspect, (which is why I didn't read them for so long as a big fan of historical fiction). Stop resisting, start at the beginning, go out and pick up a copy of Outlander and I promise you will not stop until you have read all of the books in the series!
The first part of Voyager covers the time Jamie and Claire spent apart and we learn what has been going on in Jamie's life. (God, I didn't think it was possible to love that man anymore than I already did!) I had to fight so hard not to skip ahead to their reunion, but it was worth the wait! Like Claire, I was absolutely shocked to discover what was waiting for them at Lallybroch. I was so angry that my hands were shaking and I put the book down in disgust. But, like her, I came to my senses. A love like theirs cannot be denied, no matter the circumstances.
What I love best about Ms. Gabaldon's series is her beautiful dialogue. The scene on the ship where he talks to her about courage...that's absolutely profound. The scene near the end where he wonders how he can ever expect her to realize the difference between other relationships he's had and his feelings for her...so touching. And in all of the other scenes in between, their words to each other are always so true, so real. I could read 1000 pages of Jamie and Claire talking about nothing but the weather and still be captivated.
Outlander is still my favorite in the series, because I love reading about the beginning of their relationship, the trials they go through and watching their feelings for each other develop, but Dragonfly in Amber and Voyager are both wonderful, too. I've just started Drums of Autumn and I wish the story of Jamie and Claire would never end!
