Got this for my 3 year old's first dentist visit. Horrendous book. A 3 year old doesn't need to know about cavities and shots. too scary!! Plus the illustrations are not nice to look at. I would not recommend this book to anybody.

I work in a Pediatric Dental practice. I ordered this book for my son and for his class, my niece and nephews. I threw them all away b/c they show the needle, which NEVER happens and is one way to get your child to be afraid of going to the dentist. In the end, Little Critter gets a lollipop for being so good, and granted the jar in the background says "Sugar Free", preschool aged kids cannot read. I was very disappointed b/c I love Little Critter, but not a good idea to get your child excited about going to the dentist.

I am a dental hygienist and have been looking for a book to recommend to prepare young children for their first dental visit. This book stays away from scarier terms that I have seen in other books, and has a very positive influence.

This is a very cute book that is great for little kids getting ready to go to the dentist for the first time. Some of the terms used are a little out of date but, this is an overall great book for little ones.

The book "Just Going to the Dentist" is a good book because for me, personally, I enjoyed it because it brought back some of my memories of my first couple of dentist appointments. It really brought out the detail of the anxiety, worry, and curiosity of the dentist back then.
This time the young Critter has a dentist appointment, and discovers that the dentist is not as bad as he thought it would be as it was running through his mind.
